This week of few of my coworkers and I went down to Grand Rapids for Art Prize- an open art competition! It was so fun to see all the talented and creative artist from around the country & world that came to compete! You can check out for information and vote @ artprize.orgThe sculpture above look SO life like it was crazy!
So did this painting, called Maren's cocaine! It looked like a photograph!
This artist sketched an entire comic book on big glass pages!
It was fun to visit when we did because they were down to the top 10 pieces of art! This is one above (in no particular order): 1. President Ford Visits Grand Rapids....a replica of President Ford looking at his bust!
2. Visualize- a huge mural out of tile, cement and glass by students and artists from a community school in GR
3. Fetch- a dog made entirely out of car and motorcycle parts
4. Grizzlies- wood carved bears placed in the Ford Museum waiting pool :)
This was not a top 10 but I thought it was cool- a self portrait made out of legos.
5. Men at Work- a statue guy and also a real guy pretending to be a statue!
6. Rain- a very pretty gold leaf sculpture!
This was also not a top ten- but I thought it was so cool! A take on the barrel of monkeys! Steal ones hanging from a bridge in GR.
Another one that didn't make the top ten...encyclopedia pages! I wondered what happened to all those old encyclopedias!
Little painted circles- then you look through lens to view...cool!
A huge mural painted to commemorate women fighting cancer, beautiful!We ended up making it to all top 10 but I didn't get a picture of them all!
Great fun to get my creative juices going!
